Sophia Pefanis (Alice) is an international researcher, grower and aspiring mycologist at Flete Field Lab, where she is developing mycoremediation trials using hyperlocal fungal species.
With a background in regenerative farming, she studied ecosystem restoration and ecological practice at Schumacher College, and completed her BSc in Plant Science at The Eden Project.
Over the past seven years, she has worked in medicinal horticulture, and now combines this experience with her deepening focus on fungi.
Alice leads mushroom foraging workshops, grows medicinal and decomposer fungi, and is passionate about the role of mycology in ecosystem repair.
Her work is guided by a commitment to reciprocal relationships between people and place, and the belief that humans can reclaim their role as collaborative ecosystem engineers.
